Heavy Civil Construction

Burns High School

This North Carolina public high school has been patiently awaiting the approval of this project to expand their school by adding on an auditorium as well as new parking lots to better accomodate its growing student population. Beam Construction, the general contractor for the project, has subcontracted Kemp Sigmon Construction Co., Inc. to grade out the spaces for these structures. The first phase of the project has been completed as of August 2022 and has several phases to go until final completion of the project. Kemp Sigmon Construction is passionate about improving our community and is proud to be working alongside Beam Construction to bring about a well-deserved update.

Albemarle Business Center

This project will be completed on 282 acres of unspoiled land and will be the future home of a booming industrial center for the City of Albemarle, providing job opportunities for thousands of people in the surrounding areas. The engineering firm has designed this business center so that they can make “optimal use” of the acreage while preserving the natural landscape. We are thrilled to be a part of this major project and cannot wait to show everyone the progress we make in the process.

Cleveland County DL00243

This ongoing project for the NCDOT is set to replace bridge no. 162 over Buffalo Creek on State Road 1612. This old timber bridge built in 1952 was in dire need of replacement to save the state from having to provide costly routine maintenance. A replacement for the bridge will prove to not only be more cost effective but also safer as construction practices and materials have changed significantly over the past 70 years. This nine month long project includes grading, drainage, paving, and of course structure installation. This is part of Kemp Sigmon Construction’s plan to branch out into other areas of construction, namely culvert installation and bridge replacemernts.

Irvin’s Creek Greenway

This ongoing project aims to create a new greenway from Idlewild Road to Sam Newell Road, adding to the already expansive system on greenways in and around the Charlotte area. The trail will be ~1.5 miles long and provide a convenient connection between Crown Point Elementary and Idlewild Road Park. This trail will include pedestrian and bike paths with several access points along the route. It will connect with several other established greenways in the area that make up what is called the Carolina Thread Trail. This trail spans over 2 states, 15 counties and 2.9 million people. There are currently over 300 miles of trails and our project is part of their expansion program that plans build more than 1,250 miles more. The Carolina Thread Trail's website states that their mission is to "create a legacy of conservation and connectivity through a regional network of trails". Our part of the project is well underway, having recently finished the clearing portion of the plan. Shoutout to everyone on the Irvin's Creek crew for their hard work, attention to detail, and for making a difference in the community! Please visit carolinathreadtrail.org for even more information on the organization and where you can find a trail closest to you.

Town of Huntersville Holbrook Street Extension

The Holbrook Street Extension project in Huntersville, NC was created to alleviate traffic build-up in a local residential neighborhood. Future plans intend to create an outlet for this street extension, further diverting traffic, making this neighborhood safer for those living there. The work completed included clearing, grading, paving, and all other necessary utility, asphalt and concrete work.
